Watermelon on ice
Is all very nice;
It refreshes
Many a soul.
I, however,
Will never say never
To a dip in the old
Swimming hole.
With never a thought
How or why
I let go of the rope
Way up in the sky.
Suspended in air
While saying a prayer
And awaiting the fall,
I hold tight to my nose
And splash into the pool:
Now that’s cool!

ReplyDelete"Just want to hug this little girl! I did something similar – in the desert of Arizona where I grew up there weren’t any swimming holes that I remember. BUT we made up for it with swimming pools. And I sure ran off the side of the deck or diving board holding my nose and making the biggest splash possible. Have also watched my grandchildren and their friends do that here! Brings back lots of fun memories – as does watermelon on ice. My dad GREW watermelons! We had a big vine in our backyard. How good is that?! "
